ISLANDIA, NY, FEBRUARY 9, 1998 -- Computer Associates
International, Inc., (CA) and CosmoCom Inc., today announced a development partnership
that gives Jasmine developers the ability to integrate CosmoCom's live contact-enablement
technology, CosmoCall, into Jasmine applications with unprecedented ease and speed.
Live contact requests can now be initiated from within any Jasmine client, be it a
client/server, Internet or Intranet application. Information about the request is
automatically drawn from the Jasmine application and passed to the CosmoCall ACD Server,
which ensures that the person who receives the call has both the skills and the specific
information required to service it knowledgeably and efficiently. The multimedia
communication sessions created by CosmoCall include not only voice and optional video, but
also live collaboration within the Jasmine application.
CosmoCall is the ideal complement to the network-based applications for customer support
and electronic commerce that are proliferating through the Internet and many Intra and
Extranets today, and for which Jasmine is an optimal development environment. The
integration of Jasmine and CosmoCall "contact-enables" these applications, so
that users can communicate at any time with real people who immediately understand who
they are and what they are trying to do, and know how to help.
"There are tremendous gains in efficiency from building the processes of consultation
and collaboration into the application itself," said Yogesh Gupta, CA senior vice
president of product strategy. "And CosmoCall will greatly facilitate the ability of
any company to communicate with its constituents in an Internet, Intranet or Extranet
environment, delivering a myriad of new opportunities for more effective electronic
commerce, customer support, and employee communication."
CosmoCall is a complete multimedia communications solution based entirely on the inherent
packet switching capabilities of a TCP/IP network, and implemented as a Windows NT Server
application working with Windows 95 and/or NT Caller and Agent Clients. A help desk or
sales agent group empowered with CosmoCall not only accepts and originates calls from/to
any telephone via the telephone network, but also accepts and originates calls from/to a
multimedia PC via the Internet or any TCP/IP network. Calls between multimedia PCs allow
not only voice communication, but also one-way or two-way video communication and
collaborative computing for maximum bandwidth and effectiveness between caller and agent.
Jasmine is the first pure object database solution for building next-generation business
systems over Internet and client/server computing environments. It offers developers an
object-oriented platform ideally suited for dynamic multimedia applications, while
delivering the integrity and practical data management required for mainstream business
solutions.
