HAUPPAUGE, NY, APRIL 21, 1998 -- CosmoCom, Inc. today announced a development partnership
with Computer Associates International, Inc. that enables developers to integrate
CosmoCom's live contact-enablement technology, CosmoCall, into applications implemented
with CA's Jasmine with unprecedented ease and speed.
According to officials from both companies, CosmoCall is the ideal complement to
network-based applications for customer support and electronic commerce, and Jasmine is
the optimal development environment for these applications. The integration of Jasmine and
CosmoCall "contact-enables" these applications, so that users can communicate
with support staff at any time. Information is automatically drawn from the Jasmine
application and passed to the CosmoCall Automatic Call Distributor (ACD) to ensure the
person who receives the call has both the skills and the specific information needed to
serve the call effectively. Calls allow not only voice communication, but also
screen-sharing, collaborative computing, and even one-way or two-way video for maximum
bandwidth and effectiveness between caller and agent.
"Everyone using Jasmine is impressed by the remarkable ease and speed of developing
sophisticated object- oriented, multimedia applications," said Steve Kowarsky,
CosmoCom's Executive Vice President. "But when we began to integrate our technology
with Jasmine, we were even more impressed by the seamless extensibility of Jasmines
software architecture. As a development partner, we are already benefiting from the
tremendous investment CA is making in this exciting new product."
"There are tremendous gains in efficiency from building consultation and
collaboration features into the application itself," said Carl Hartman, CA vice
president of development partner programs. "CosmoCall allows any company to
communicate with its clients in an Internet, Intranet or Extranet environment, delivering
more effective electronic commerce, customer support, and employee communication."
Jasmine is the first pure object database solution for building next-generation business
systems over Internet and client/server computing environments. It offers developers an
object-oriented platform ideally suited for dynamic multimedia applications, while
delivering the integrity and practical data management required for mainstream business
solutions.
CosmoCom, Inc., with headquarters in Hauppauge, NY, is revolutionizing electronic commerce
and customer support via the Web with its live contact-enabling technology. The company
was among the first to recognize the need to integrate live, multimedia communication with
the web and other network-based applications, and has been developing the patent-pending
CosmoCall solution for more than two years.
