Love It or Hate It, e-Commerce is Part of Every Organization's Future; Internet Telecom Expo 2000 to Showcase Latest e-Business Technology Solutions

NEW YORK, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- CMP Media today announced Internet Telecom Expo will showcase the technologies and services that enable companies to do business on the Web. A comprehensive conference program and exhibitors representing some of the biggest e-commerce players will combine to provide attendees with the latest e-business solutions. Internet Telecom Expo 2000 will be held September 19-21, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

"From the supply chain through sales channels, the Internet has changed the way business gets done," said Simon Cooper, Executive Director for Events in CMP's Converging Communications Group. "Implementing an e-business strategy is no longer an option. To compete -- and survive -- every organization needs to take advantage of the operational and customer service efficiencies the Internet makes possible. At Internet Telecom Expo 2000, attendees will learn how to implement these solutions in our conference program and the many hands-on demonstrations on the exhibit floor."

Several conference sessions will present today's most innovative e-Commerce technology solutions. "Wireless Technology and Location-based m-Commerce" will be presented on Tuesday by Andy Goren, CEO, GeePS.com; Mark Licht, President, SigmaOne Communications; and Ellen Kirk, Vice President Marketing & Strategic Planning, Snaptrack. This session will be moderated by David Greenfield, International Technology Editor, Network Magazine. On Wednesday, Bob Emmerson, Freelance Writer, Electric Words, will moderate a session presented by John McGuire, CEO, TrinTech and Bernard Desarnauts, CEO, ViaFone, entitled "Enabling Transactions in Mobile e-Commerce."

A full-day, pre-conference tutorial, Monday, September 18 by Don Van Doren, President, Vanguard Communications, will examine ways of "Putting the Call Center at the Heart of e-Commerce."

Many Internet Telecom Expo 2000 exhibitors will be demonstrating their e-Commerce solutions. Apropos Technology, Inc. will showcase its multimedia interaction management solutions for e-business. Their Apropos Version 4 application, a multimedia customer interaction management solution, allows e-businesses to route, track, and manage all personalized responses, including web chats, web calls and e-mails.

CosmoCom will feature CosmoCall Universe, a pure IP ACD platform that allows e-Commerce vendors to address the needs of present and potential Web customers. CosmoCall Universe enables a consumer to establish a live multimedia connection to a customer service representative through a PC, PSTN Phone, TV and wireless devices. CosmoCall Universe also queues the calls, selects the right kind of representative for each caller, and informs each representative about the nature and context of the call, all over an IP network. The CosmoCom Universe IP Platform, combined with any call center CRM package, empowers live agents to help people find what they are looking for, answer questions about products and services, and motivate buying decisions.

Interactive Intelligence, a leading developer of multi-channel customer interaction management software, will show off its Interaction Center Platform -- the company's newest suite of interaction management products geared toward e-businesses, enterprises, contact centers, and service providers, at Internet Telecom Expo 2000.

"e-Commerce is one of the biggest attractions to the Internet. But implementing viable e-business solutions across an enterprise involves many integration issues, both technologically and departmentally. It's not just an IT solution or a telecom solution. It involves customer service, sales, marketing, finance, operations and, most importantly, executive management," explained Cooper. "That's why we brought the largest e-business companies to Internet Telecom Expo 2000 as exhibitors and session presenters. We want to provide a venue where all of these constituencies can learn about the technologies and see them demonstrated."

According to analyst firm ActivMedia Research, e-Commerce is expected to be worth $132 billion globally by the end of this year, double that of what it was last year. ActivMedia also states that 2/3 of all new websites can accommodate product ordering and delivery of online services.
